The duality of Joy.

Joy isn’t something that is so easy to come by for a lot of us. Many living just to survive, having what feels like zero time to feel any sort of emotion, let alone joy. Many stuck in a repeated pattern of negativity with it being all they know; always seeing the lack in things opposed to the beauty.

Said with zero judgement because that used to be me.

Now, instead of being in it, the negativity becomes a huge activator or trigger. Embodying and utilizing the tools to support me; deep breaths in through nose, maybe a support of my blend that I created (get the kit HERE); and even (for a woman who used to just keep quiet) respond with the opposite of the negativity at hand (ie: “oh my gosh its so loud in here”, me: “I actually love the sound of the kids playing and getting along”).

&learning that we cannot control anybody but ourselves.

We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy - Joseph Campbell

Joy comes up again and is ready to be written about having begun to live in this manner for quite a few years, with deeper intention since only last summer season.

A feeling that I intend to embody; while also allowing for the duality of all of the other array of emotions that come with this crazy thing we called life.

An invitation to put on the High Vibes playlist and move.

The Summer season to me is a big season of joy - living in the moment as much as possible, being present to what is around you and loving up on all of your people and community.

Joy is limitless, a feeling unlike any other. A knowing and trust that despite the hardships, things are going to be alright. Joy, according to Brené Brown is an intense feeling of deep spiritual connection, pleasure and appreciation for all that is around us.

A great tool in there that I am going to begin using myself: anytime we catch ourselves in the what if mindset, sat outlaid: “I am feeling vulnerable”.

On a psychological level, joy is linked to positive mental health; allowing us to be more resilient to what we have faced and will continue to face in our lifetimes. Looking at our experiences as lessons, while again, providing space to feel the other emotions that come along with them.

There is no one way to feel in joy as it is different among practices and cultures, with some, emphasizing the pursuit of joy and happiness as a primary life goal.

Here are some practices to get into and allow space for your own joy:

☀️ Practicing gratitude regularly

☀️ Mindfulness

☀️ Spending time in nature; feet on the ground, head in the clouds

☀️ Moving your body in whatever way feels right

☀️ Being with people that light your soul on fire

☀️ Energy practices such as breathwork; shake up the layers of all that tells us we must be so serious all the time; that we need to act proper; and be the good little girl.

I have a Breathwork practice I created to support you, included is a workbook to embody and reflect on this feeling 👇

A workbook and Breathwork session.

To make space for joy through Summer and any other season that you may be needing it.

HERE to start getting into your own.
