A Common Theme

I have been doing a lot of processing emotions and past experiences over the past month or so; things coming to the surface that I thought I had already worked through. Turns out, there is more work to it than just the acknowledgement I had done.

For me, it has looked like uncomfortable conversations; raising my voice; talking through it; deep breaths and spiritual work. A real release of all of the pent-up emotions and feelings that dictated who I was for too long.

A common theme that I have heard from others throughout my release is: “I don’t need to talk about my stuff. We’re just different”. &while yes, we are all very different people (this is the beautiful part of life (the learning we do from each other), I do believe that healing and working through your traumas should be a commonality.

With no expectations, other than doing the best you are capable of on any given day.

That being said, I recognize the programming that made us believe our emotions and feels weren’t worth bringing to attention. That we were labelled as crazy, [emo]tional or bitches if we tried anyway. A world where there is a timeline for how long your grief should last or where you are still expected to work when the body is telling you to rest.

It is no wonder we live in a world that is so prevalent with disease and problems with our bodies.

Let me explain a little if this is not something that has crossed your path before.

It is my belief (from an array of people and resources that I have learned from) that our emotions get stored and pent up inside of us, causing an array of health (mental and physical) problems.

Some facts that made the lightbulb go off in my brain for this, was understanding that our grief is stored in our hips, and looking at the statistics that say women are 75% more likely to need/ require hip replacements as they age (reflect on what you were told your place as a woman was).

The intricacies of what makes us who we are.

Loving who that is and recognizing the possibilities that unravelling some of that stuff can bring.

A post I wrote a while back about that nasty word so many of us call ourselves.

A book I am recommending if you are intrigued by this: The Body Keeps Score

I haven’t even finished it, but I know it’s a goodie and it just aligned with this post so well.
