Winter Rhythms

A life in seasons, guided by the moons in some way or another is what allows us to recognize the rhythms that lives within all of us.

A lief of cyclical living, a space that i have been embodying for several years at the time of writing this piece.

Much like the bridges we cross in our personal lives, the transition into Winter requires us to let go of energetics that no longer serve us.

Throughout the cold season, a time intended for deeper rest, for stirrings within our bodies to come to the surface because the earth is finally still to allow for the space. To be with each other in deeper commitment and trust for all that is and all that can be.

When we allow ourselves to live in rhythm, to slow our internal systems so that they are no longer matching the craze of the external world, we can witness the lessons that are intended to help us rise.. when, and only when, we allow ourselves to be witnessed here.

Through the cold season, we witnessed the cycle move through three full moons, three moments (spans) through the season to let go of spaces, energetics, maybe people that are keeping us out of a place of our own individual power.

You often hear the moon spoken in terms of astrology, a way that I have never personally, connected to, despite my best efforts to understand and grasp because I do witness and embody the lessons and magic that our sky, the ether has to offer us.

For a while, because of my detachment here, I thought that this meant, I didn’t have a connection to the moon, that I just didn’t get it - despite my fascination, despite my absolute awe of it, every time I looked to the night sky, or even in the mornings as it still lingered through the clouds.

I realized, and connected deeper this past Winter season to the roots, coming back down out of the sky into the earths lessons, into the ancient wisdom carried through cultures for generations. There are many different stories here; stories in which I, personally, have only grazed in relation to the wisdom that our moon has to offer, all offering different, but similar ideas, regardless of where you come from.

I, also, am in tune and love the elemental wisdom that each can offer.

Here, I am going to offer a little bit of it all.

My own experiences from this past season, some elemental lessons and wisdom that come from my own roots, and other perspectives that I have found (and resonate with) both online from both my lineages, and Indigenous wisdom (Indigenous here, meaning the first on any land throughout our world), some from right here in Turtle Island, referencing a book that can help us connect to the land that we occupy, by Asha Frost that I will share below.

The Full Moon in January falls in a Water sign, with water representing the flow of our emotions (see below for our masterclass), our deep sensitivities, intuition and the rhythms in which we lead our lives (whether consciously or subconsciously).

This particular cycle in my life was bringing up for me the narrative of scarcity, the feeling that there is never or never will be enough (be it in relation to money, self, relationships etc.). Brought on by some circumstances that I believe came forth for me, ready to be witnessed and cleared from my own lineage.

When I think back, scarce actions have been common through what I witnessed and experienced growing up. In means of love never received (we knew we were ‘loved’ but never heard it or felt it deeply), in ways of jealousy within friendships, in means of never feeling enough as we are.

This particular season, I noticed it arising after weeks of being in my brain anytime I noticed something getting low in our supplies. I would (without realizing it at the time) ration ingredients a little more, get in my head about affordability (which is so real) when the toilet paper would start to get low again (haha remember that real time in history). Its a little funny to think about now, because when I realized that this is what I was doing, I sat with it deeper and recognized that it was again, coming up so that I could finally move through these subconscious patterns that have, and back into the abundance that I know is here and possible for all of us to live in.

Scarcity is a theme that can come from the Wolf Moon (a name for this moon rooted in Celtic, Indigenous and/ or Old English culture), as I have learned, representing the howling of the hungry wolves due to the scarcity of resources in the season.

This is a cycle that I witness and reframe in the abundance in getting to spend deeper, intentional time together as a family. Also recognized as the Spirit Moon amongst Indigenous cultures.

We spend more time inside due to weather, while in duality, basking in the freshness that nature has to offer us and getting to be like a kid in the snow. There isn’t as much outside work to do on our property, in terms of maintenance or gardening and therefore there is more time to be intentional with how we spend our time together.

You can find us moving a little slower, sleeping a little later when time permits, creating more crafts and visions for our futures. Spending time doing puzzles, dancing slow, moving and finding a deeper flow for how we want to live our lives. It is also a time where I once deeply struggled (and still witness in moments), a pattern that I still recognize in my husband in some ways, because we are not a world that teaches a safety in the slowness.

As I mentioned, this moon can be referred to as the Spirit Moon in Indigenous traditions and when I think of Spirit, I think of the soul of us. The essence of who we are before the world tells us to be otherwise. This cycle, as mentioned, allowing the stirrings within to percolate, to rise up into our heart, neutralize the fears, and multitude of emotions so that we can live this lifetime in our true authentic soul.

What are the lessons that are ready to rise within this season?

This particular cycle for me, bringing up the root of scarcity narratives so that I can fully begin to rise into the deeper abundance that I am after in this lifetime. That i have been calling in and working towards for years.

Bergamot Queen to fall into your own rhythms..

The following moon through the Winter season is referred to the Full Snow Moon, a time to bask in the freshness of what was just being stirred up in you. A new perspective that is ready to be born, with the duality of continuing to feel through the stirrings that have risen in you.

Those feels can sure be a trip, if you know you know.

A continuation of moving slow, dancing to the music that is playing in our home, getting more sensual with my body, of getting more and more comfortable with myself and what we are a building. A realization that this was exactly the whole point of our marriage, a building of our own impact on the world, some ancestral hurts continuing, some fully ready to rise. A creation of our own, the ways in which the masculine and feminine deeply unite into one. We continued to play lots of games as a family, the boys did their puzzles (i can’t get in on this one lol), I did lots of reading and joined a bookclub.

The scarcity wounds were still arising, only this time in regards to love. The first moon was money, this round, love arose. In this freshness though, the wounds didn’t feel as deep. There was space to be with all of it, again through connecting and because we’ve learned to let go. The biggest lesson that the full moon has ever taught me, the space to let go of what is no longer serving us.

This full moon falls in a fire element; the fears, the anger bubbling up between my tummy and my heart. The traumas that I experienced when I was little (that finally felt safe to be met in my body just a few short years ago now) arising again with lessons in the ways I once handled love (towards myself and others) and money (never feeling enough for more) and contributing to the lack and scarcity that lived within me for so, so long.

Fire brings the heart, it meets you whether you are ready for her or not.

&this cycle, I was ready. I fell deeper into building strength within my own heart (physically, energetically, emotionally). Fire brings the passion, now able to recognize the roots of where she comes from, the embers that have been building through the winter season, the flame that finally knows she is ready to rise.

The snow moon, according to a quick google search of traditions across Northern France area (my paternal .. my masculine side), this moon bringing a sense of wonder and mystery, a wonder (watch) what I can do sort of season as I begin to take deeper action on my dreams and how I, personally am here to show up in the world as. The confidence (where once lied some sliver of doubt) on the impact. The heart led leadership which where the energy is matched, ten fold.

The rise and deeper clarity for the impact we are here to bring. In the big ways, and the small micro moment ways that, truly, life is all about.

According to the land in which we reside, and from Asha Frost, this is the Bear Moon, “a time where we reflect on the medicine of rest and integration” (Asha Frost). A time to recognize and take ownership for whether we integrate the lessons that have been bestowed upon us or we continue along a path that is not serving our larger purpose.

We allow ourselves to “fall into the void with deep rest” (Asha Frost), a time that is asking us to be present. In our breath. In the moment. In the chaos ..if that is what it is for you. To bring your attention to your environment, the calm that it can bring to you when you give it the energy that it deserves.

Environement // both internal and external.

The third full moon of the winter season can be known as the full Worm Moon according the my moonX app, based in European lineages (I believe Nordic, Celtic) which is a blend, I believe of my maternal lineage.

There was/ is a lot of survival there. Broken hearts, already exposed to an erasure of their culture so deep (generations ago) that there is limited connection. Yet, when I share my experiences with them, my own connection, they know its real. And if that aint generational healing, I don’t know what is.

The worm moon signifying a deeper connection, a deeper rise from our own roots, the stirrings that are softening the broken hearts that have been led by mean girl energy, comparison, lack of trust and beyond.

Led by the earth element, we allow ourselves to surrender to all of the possibilities. We allow ourselves to be held, to trust, to ground into who we are meant to be in this world. An internal sense of stability, even when the external reality isn’t quite there yet. The stirrings, because winter is still very much alive that you learn to connect to, that you learn to be with and rise from.

More clarity arises because we’ve allowed space for this in our bodies and in our minds, we continue to honour the both/ and … knowing that this feminine season is asking for rest, while still utilizing our masculine energy of “get that shit done”.

We can sense the ways in which things are changing, while winter is not quite gone, we feel our energy begin to shift, welcoming in a deeper rise into our fullest potential. We are beginning to really stir from our slumber as noted in my quick search again.

Also noted from my quick search, with the references linked below, a time where we continue to witness the stirrings of winter, with the little hints of reminders that growth is coming. That sunshine is coming. That the rise is almost here.

Its fun to witness commonalities across traditions, a reminder that we all have wisdom and things to learn from one another, while in duality, the lessons being similar, only noted from a different perspective.

According to Asha Frost, and the wisdom of the land in which I reside, this is The Sugar Moon; “when the snow begins to melt and the sweet maple syrup tree sap begins to run”. A time that asks us “to remember the sweetness in our lives”. The reminders of gratitude for what we have, sometimes symbolized by the stripping of us that begin in the season of Fall.

It can be easy to get caught in the cycles of chaos that our world offers and does to us intentionally. but when we take the lessons that our earth is teaching us and allow the deepest gratitude for all of the pieces, lessons and people that have been and /or are a part of my life, it changes the game.

It takes us out of those scarcity and lack loops that were maybe coming up, a sense of peace that nothing outside of ourselves will ever make us whole. You Are the Medicine, as Asha Frosts book that I refer to here, is so brilliantly titled, reminding us through earths medicine, deer in the case of this book providing deeper wisdom of being “loved unconditionally, of being perfect in our imperfections, of meeting our mistakes with grace, and of reminding ourselves that we are enough as we are”.

The Flow of Emotions
$33.33

A Masterclass on the Energetics & Physiology of Feeling

Stop treading water in your feelings.

We’ve all been there, overwhelmed by a wave of emotion that feels like it’s going to pull us under, or so disconnected that we feel like we’re walking through fog. We treat emotions like problems to be solved, but emotions aren't math equations; they are energy in motion.

The Flow of Emotions is a deep-dive masterclass into how your feelings actually work, from the "buzz" in your energy field to the literal wiring of your nervous system.

The Science & Soul of Sensation

To truly flow, you have to understand the "pipes" the emotion is moving through. We’re going beyond "just feeling your feelings" and getting into the mechanics of your internal world.

In this masterclass, we explore:

  • The Nervous System Connection: Understand how your Vagus nerve and your "fight or flight" response dictate how you experience (and store) emotion.

  • Emotional Mapping: Learn to identify how different "feels" show up in your physical body before they take over your mind.

  • The Energetic Signature: Why some emotions feel heavy and stagnant while others feel sharp and electric—and what to do with both.

  • Specific Supports for Specific Feels: Practical, somatic tools for the big ones:

    • The heat of anger

    • The weight of grief

    • The flutter of anxiety

    • The expansion of joy and pleasure

What’s Included:

  • The Masterclass Video: A comprehensive session on grounding in and navigating the emotional landscape without losing your footing.

  • The Emotional Support Toolkit (PDF): Reflection Questions and tools to support your through the days and feels that arise in us

"An emotion is just a guest. You don't have to let them move in, but you do have to open the door."

Come back to center.

You don't have to be afraid of what you feel. When you understand the connection between your body and your energy, you stop being a victim to your moods and start becoming the conscious observer of your life.
